What you can do

Maybe you’ve had a difficult birth and are struggling with your feelings about it, or maybe you feel deeply affected by your experience, or love someone who’s struggling themselves.

Maybe you work with families that have been affected by birth trauma and wonder what you can do to help.

One thing you can do is to join our community and help us to raise awareness of birth trauma and its impact on perinatal mental health so we can make changes within services to help families get the support they need. It can be small things that really make a difference. Sometimes just a friendly hello, or a smile is the start to making someone who is  struggling feel just that little bit brighter.

If you are unsure about what birth trauma is and how it affects families, then please do contact us for more information. We can even come to talk at your place of work or organisation.

If you have been affected by birth trauma, whether as a woman or a partner, please share your story. It can be hard to do so, but your story can inspire others, give hope and help us know what things can make a difference and help to reduce Birth Trauma.

By raising awareness of birth trauma, sharing our stories and talking about how it affects families we also help to reduce stigma.

If you have ideas to share, projects that you are working on or have done any research on birth trauma please let us know, especially if you know of services that are making a difference.

Let’s all keep talking, working hard, campaigning and coming together to build a brighter future for women and families everywhere.

  1. Hello,

I work for Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Aotearoa (PADA) which is based in New Zealand. Can you tell me where you are based as your key messages are very similar to ours and I like the work you are doing.
